INPUT LOCAL LEADERS
The story of Vule Market is one of traditional business values and growth - from a small 20m² store to a network of retail outlets spanning over 2,000m², serving consumers and neighbors in the Belgrade suburb of Sremčica for over 30 years.
Through hard work and attentively addressing the community's needs, the owner, Vule Trajković, shaped a vision for his business and assembled a team of 80 employees.
Vule Markets are a prime example of local entrepreneurship and community-focused initiatives. This is evident in their collaboration with over 200 domestic suppliers, the recent opening of a modern 1,000m² facility in the center of Sremčica, and their keen awareness of customers’ purchasing power, habits, and preferences.
Input tailor-made solution
The collaboration between INPUT and Vule Market dates back to when Vule operated only small retail stores. The experience and understanding gained through that partnership led to the successful cooperation on a new, modern retail space.
Our project for Vule Market included several aspects of retail space equipment:
- A complete shelving system for improved product organization and visibility.
- An 8-meter modular 3x3 system with shelves designed for alcoholic beverages.
- Checkout counters with extended 94 cm trays enhance customer experience by enabling a more comfortable and efficient checkout process.
- Custom-designed, personalized checkout stands for better organization of products at the counters.
The highlight of the Vule Market project was a specially designed INPUT bakery. Building upon our base bakery model, we elevated it to a new, personalized level for Vule Market, creating a unique corner bakery with additional elements and expanded space for baked goods. This provided the perfect solution for their in-house production of bread and pastries, preserving freshness and showcasing the aesthetic appeal of their fragrant, freshly baked goods.
#FunFact
Did you know that consumer behavior studies have shown that the smell of freshly baked bread lifts people's mood and energy, making them feel more relaxed and open to new experiences? Having a bakery inside the store fills the atmosphere with a pleasant and welcoming scent and saves customers a trip to another location to buy bread.
Challenges & solutions
A challenge wouldn't be what it is if it were a regular, everyday situation. For INPUT, the challenge in this collaboration was ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations and daily business activities during the renovation process at every phase.
The project's first phase involved renovating part of the store while regular sales continued in the other section. In the next phase, a partition wall was removed, the space was expanded, and everything was integrated into a modern, unified, functional design. At the same time, customers shopped smoothly and without disruption!
This approach required INPUT to plan carefully and strictly adhere to project phases, keeping in mind the imperative of not disturbing daily business operations while delivering a functional and modern retail space solution.
#TipsAndTricks
When circumstances require renovations to be carried out in phases, the key lies in careful planning and flexibility. Our advice:
- Schedule work during low-sales intervals of the day
- Create a temporary store layout
- Prioritize safety and cleanliness
- Focus communication on customers during the transition through marketing activities and staff engagement
Insights from the field
Our current project and prior experience with Vule Markets reinforce our belief in the company's and owner's high reputations. They are serious, community-oriented individual and system deeply, rooted in the local community. Their dedication to improving operations benefits both the company and its customers.
Collaboration is key
When a client and service provider connect through smaller projects, building mutual understanding and goodwill, larger projects become a natural progression. Why? Because trust grows, decisions are made more easily and quickly, and all parties experience the benefits of collaboration.
#RetailHarmony
The cornerstone of retail space design is ensuring a pleasant shopping experience while maintaining uninterrupted operations. In the case of Vule Markets, where renovations were carried out in two phases with one part of the store continuously operational, this requirement was proven daily on the ground. Ensuring that every Vule Markets customer was served, every item was displayed in a neat and welcoming environment, and the shopping process flowed seamlessly—even under extraordinary conditions—was only possible through partners working together with customer interests at heart.
